Couple & Family Therapy

"I'm going to help you clean out your junk drawer. Of course, I'm talking about an emotional junk drawer where we store all the pain, fear, anger that shapes us."

— Dr. Debra Radcliffe, Modern Family, Season 7 Episode 8

Couple & Family Therapy, traditionally known as “marriage & family therapy,” supports all kinds of relationships and family structures - not just married couples. Depending on context or region, this work may also be called Relationship Therapy.

Relationships are central to our well-being. They shape our sense of belonging, influence physical and mental health, and provide some of life’s most meaningful experiences. Yet even strong relationships can struggle under the weight of stress, life transitions, or disconnection.

You might feel distant from your partner, caught in repeated arguments, or unsure how to rebuild trust after a rupture. Challenges can show up as struggles with intimacy, jealousy, parenting, or navigating life transitions together. For others, it may be deciding if or how to end a relationship with care and respect.

I work with individuals, couples, and families to address a wide range of concerns, including communication challenges, conflict, intimacy, parenting, and mental health issues. My approach is informed by my Social Work training and Couple & Family Therapy training, grounded in a systemic perspective, exploring how patterns within relationships contribute to emotional difficulties, and how changing these patterns can create meaningful, lasting improvements.

How I Can Support Couples

In therapy, I work with couples to:

  • Improve communication and reduce unhelpful patterns

  • Rebuild trust and navigate challenges such as infidelity

  • Deepen emotional and physical intimacy

  • Explore sexual concerns in a supportive space

  • Navigate transitions such as moving in together, getting married, becoming parents, or opening up relationships

  • Heal from relational wounds and reconnect with empathy and compassion

How I Work with Families

I support families in understanding and reshaping patterns that affect family members’ wellbeing. Examples include:

  • Adjusting new changes

  • Improving parent-child communication

  • Supporting families navigating mental health challenges

  • Helping families adjust to major life changes such as illness, relocation, or separation

  • Resolving intergenerational conflict

  • Strengthening overall family resilience and cohesion

I welcome couples and families of all identities and constellations, including LGBTQ2S+ individuals and consensually non-monogamous partnerships.
