Counselling for
Disordered Eating & Body Image

Disordered eating, eating disorders and body image concerns are complex and can deeply affect mental, emotional, and physical health. They are not just about food, weight, or appearance, they can impact self-esteem, relationships, daily functioning, and can be life-threatening. Many people also experience disordered eating habits that may not meet full diagnostic criteria but still cause distress and interfere with quality of life.

I provide therapy for individuals experiencing both disordered eating and diagnosed eating disorders, as well as support for caregivers who want to understand their loved one’s experience and respond with compassion and effectiveness. I also support people with general body image concerns who are looking to develop a healthier and more positive relationship with their bodies.

My Approach

My work is anti-diet culture. I help clients challenge harmful societal messages about food, weight, and appearance and support the development of a healthier, more compassionate relationship with eating and their bodies. While I provide psychological and emotional support, I do not provide nutritional advice and cannot replace a dietitian.  It is important to acknowledge that psychotherapy alone is rarely sufficient for eating disorder recovery. Other healthcare professionals (e.g. dietitians, physicians, occupational therapists and nurses …etc) play a crucial role in a multi-disciplinary approach, providing medical monitoring, nutritional guidance, and specialized care. Working alongside these professionals ensures comprehensive support for both physical and mental health, maximizing safety, recovery, and long-term well-being.

I am currently unable to provide therapy to individuals under 24 who have a diagnosed eating disorder, due to conflicts of interest with my other work. However, I am open to supporting their caregivers, loved ones, and family members. For individuals under 24 seeking care for an eating disorder, I encourage contacting specialized programs such as your regional eating disorders programmes and Looking Glass Foundation

Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions that affect millions of people. They are not a lifestyle choice, a phase, or rooted in vanity. They affect people of all genders, sexual orientations, ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

Common Areas I Can Support You In

I have been working as an eating disorders clinician in public healthcare since 2024, providing therapy and support to both individuals experiencing eating disorders and their caregivers.

An obsessive focus on “healthy eating” that interferes with daily life, relationships, and overall well-being.  Orthorexia is not currently recognized as a distinct diagnosis in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5-TR).

I provide guidance for family members, partners, and loved ones on how to respond to eating-related struggles without burnout or guilt. Using evidence-informed strategies such as Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, we work on setting boundaries, fostering effective communication, and creating a supportive environment for both the caregiver and their loved one.
